 PROFILE OF PROFESSOR OLUWOLE CHARLES AKINYOKUN Professor Akinyokun had General Certificate of Education (GCE), Ordinary Level, London in January 1972, West African School Certificate (WASC), Ordinary Level from Acquinas College, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria in December 1972 on Western State Scholarship, West African School Certificate (WASC), Advanced Level from Christ School, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria in June 1974, Bachelor of Science (BSc.), First Class Honours in Computer Science and Mathematics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in 1979 on NNPC Scholarship and PhD in Computing Studies with specialization in Distributed Database System from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom in 1984 on Commonwealth Scholarship. He started lectureship in Computer Science in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in October 1985 as a Lecturer I. He moved to the Federal University of Technology, Akure in September 1987 as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science, became a Reader in October 1992 and a Professor in October 1995. He was an Endowed Professor of Computer Science of First Bank of Nigeria in 2000 through 2002, a Scholar and Fellow of Commonwealth, a Fellow of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and International Chartered World Learning Society (ICWLS), Member of the Computer Professional (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN), Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), British Computer Society (BCS), Institute of Management of Information System, United Kingdom and Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). He was Nigerian Representative in the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence between 1992 and 1996. He is a Justice of Peace (JP) of Oyo State, Nigeria. He was a Consultant to the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Tourism on the Computerization of the operations of the Ministry in 1992 through 1993. A Consultant to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on the Computerization of Value Added Tax (VAT) in 1994 through 1996.
